Life gets real when you stop collaborating

Sometimes I look around me and think, the world was so much more beautiful and exciting and fresh and alive in ancient Greece. Or it’s so much more so in the future of Star Trek. But the truth of things is like what Kira realized in that last episode [sc., DS9: “Rocks and Shoals”]: life becomes real and alive when you stop going with the flow and “collaborating” and start living according to your own truth. That’s when you tear away the curtain and show the really beautiful creation of love that is the world. The same goes for Ulysses [sc., Odyssey by Homer] – he never forgets that truth, not when he’s with Circe, not when he’s with Calypso. He’s tempted, but he never forgets, and he makes his way home. Again, same with Achilles [sc., Iliad by Homer]. The glory and love are not in the setting, but are made by the people. K__ does it too with his art. And that’s how I’m going to live too.
